    Europe is famous for its Christmas markets, which are found in every corner of the continent. But which Christmas markets are the best? Independent travel agency  Iglu Cruise  has used Tripadvisor data to reveal the highest-rated Christmas markets in Europe , and the answer may surprise you… The study used a sample of 40 of the biggest Christmas markets, and calculated which markets had the highest percentage of “excellent”, or five out of five-star visitor reviews.  The following Christmas markets had the highest ratings: Esslingen – Germany The highest-rated Christmas market in Europe is  Esslingen , Germany, which has an excellent rating of 72.2%. Located 10 miles south of Stuttgart in southwestern Germany, Esslingen Christmas Market features over 280 stalls. There are two separate markets: the traditional Christmas market and the Mediaeval market, offering seasonal gifts and delicious food.  Krakow – Poland In second place, with an excellent score of 71.4% is  Krakow  Christmas Market in Poland. Located in the Old Town in the main square in Krakow, the Christmas market is typically open from late November to Christmas Eve, making it a perfect destination for anyone looking to experience a touch of Christmas in Poland. Visitors can enjoy a variety of local crafts, artisanal goods, and Christmas decorations. Cologne – Germany With an excellent score of 70.5%,  Cologne  Christmas Market is the third highest-rated in Europe. Cologne’s Christmas Market, one of Germany’s most famous, transforms the city into a magical winter wonderland. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Cologne Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the market draws millions of visitors each year to experience its enchanting atmosphere. Prague – Czech Republic Prague  Christmas Market received an excellent score of 70%, making it the fourth highest-rated in Europe. Held annually in the heart of the city, the main market is located in Old Town Square, though there are some at Prague Castle too. Visitors can enjoy traditional Czech cuisine and svařák, a Czech mulled wine, served with cinnamon, cloves, and citrus. Vienna – Austria The fifth highest-rated Christmas market in Europe is  Vienna , Austria, which has an excellent score of 62.7%. Located next to the beautiful Gothic City Hall, the Vienna Christmas Markets provide a majestic backdrop for the festive stalls, complete with twinkling lights, elaborate decorations, and towering Christmas trees.  Nuremberg – Germany Nuremberg  Christmas Market scored 62.4%. Located in southeastern Germany, the Nuremberg Christmas Market is one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the mid-16th century. Originally, it was a local event where people could purchase goods and food for the holiday season. Over the centuries, it has grown in size, drawing millions of visitors yearly.  Frankfurt – Germany Frankfurt , Germany, has the seventh highest-rated Christmas market in Europe, with an excellent score of 58.4%. The market is situated in the heart of Frankfurt, primarily around the Römerberg square. There is also often an ice skating rink near the markets for guests to enjoy.  Munich – Germany The next Christmas market on the list is the  Munich  Christmas Market in Germany, which has an excellent score of 55.9%. The market is also famous for its Glühwein (mulled wine), served in festive mugs, often with a slice of Stollen (German fruitcake) on the side.  Salzburg – Austria In ninth place is the  Salzburg  Christmas Market in Austria, which scored 52.4%. The market features stalls selling handmade crafts, ornaments, and gifts, many of which reflect the region’s culture and heritage. You’ll find everything from beautifully crafted wooden toys and decorations to candles, ceramics, and intricate glass ornaments.  Brussels – Belgium Finally, in tenth place is the  Brussels  Christmas Market in Belgium, which has an excellent rating of 50.7%. The main attraction is a large Ferris wheel which is typically set up near the Place de la Monnaie, offering stunning views of the city’s festive lights and decorations. It’s a must-do for anyone looking for a bird’s-eye view of Brussels during the holidays.

The study utilised TripAdvisor to identify Italy’s highest-rated museums and galleries, considering museums with a minimum of 1,000 reviews. Italy is a popular holiday destination renowned for its attractions, delicious cuisine, and rich culture. Many travellers begin their journey with a visit to one of the country’s numerous museums and galleries. The Ranking In first place is the  Sidereus Museum , a specialised aerospace museum located in Salerno. The museum has 1,000 five-star reviews out of a total of 1,035, translating to a percentage of 96.62%. Visitors who rated the museum five stars described it as a ‘unique and super interesting experience’ and ‘an incredible walk through the stars.’ In second place is the  Palazzo Colonna Galleria Colonna , an art gallery in one of Rome’s oldest and largest private palaces. The gallery has 958 five-star reviews out of a total of 1,097, resulting in a percentage of 87.33%. Visitors described the experience as ‘art, history, and a visitor experience second to none’ and ‘an oasis of beauty in the centre of Rome.’ Museo Della Porziuncola  ranks third, an art gallery and museum located in Santa Maria degli Angeli. The museum has 1,599 five-star reviews out of 1,838, resulting in a percentage of 87.00%. Some of the five-star reviews state that the museum is an ‘amazing and spiritual experience’ and a ‘must-see religious landmark!’ The fourth highest-rated museum is  Welcome To Rome , a multimedia experience that explores the city’s rich history. The museum secures 1,196 five-star reviews out of 1,375, resulting in a percentage of 86.98%. Visitors described the museum as an ‘exceptional way to learn Rome’s history!’ and a ‘perfect start to a first visit to Rome for families.’  Galleria Borbonica , a famous museum that takes visitors through the new section of the Naples underground, is in fifth place with 9,167 five-star reviews out of 10,747, resulting in a percentage of 85.30%. Visitors stated that the museum is a ‘fascinating underground treasure in Naples!’ and an ‘excellent, interesting tour with a superb guide.’ The ten most highly rated museums and galleries in Italy In sixth place is  Stanze Di Raffaello , also known as ‘Raphael’s Rooms,’ located in the Vatican. It has 1,051 five-star reviews out of 1,250, resulting in a percentage of 84.08%. Visitors have stated that ‘Raphael is one of the greatest painters of all time, and here is his masterpiece.’ Other reviewers call it the ‘best part of the Vatican.’ Museo Delle Arti Sanitarie , a small museum located in a 16th-century hospital in Naples, is in seventh place with 869 five-star reviews out of 1,036, resulting in a percentage of 83.88%. Some five-star reviews have stated that the museum is an ‘unforgettable visit’ and a ‘fascinating display of historic medical items.’ Ranked eighth is the  Ex Stabilimento-Florio delle Tonnare di Favignana e Formica , a museum in Isola di Favignana showcasing the history of a large ancient tuna fishery in the Mediterranean. It has received 4,684 five-star reviews out of 5,648, resulting in a percentage of 82.83%. Visitors of the museum reviewed it as ‘perfect storytelling about a society built on tuna fishing’ and ‘the reason to visit Favignana.’ Museo Cappella Sansevero,  a chapel located in Naples built in the late 1500s, is ninth, with 18,290 five-star reviews out of a total of 22,336, resulting in a percentage of 81.89%. Some five-star reviews stated that it is ‘breathtaking, stunning, and incredible’ and an ‘extremely impressive, wonderful museum.’ Finally, in tenth place is the  Museo Nazionale Archeologico , which translates to the ‘National Archaeological Museum’ located in Taranto. It has 1,068 five-star reviews out of 1,317, resulting in a percentage of 81.09%. Some five-star reviews state that the museum is ‘an extraordinary archaeological collection from the local area’ and a ‘must-see while in Taranto.’ Speaking on the findings, Magdalena Petrusic, a travel expert from  Pompeii Tickets & Tours ,  said:  “These findings demonstrate the rich history and culture that Italy offers its visitors.
