Wines of the World- Californian Chardonnay

A friend visiting from California introduced be to this hugely popular American wine this past weekend. It’s a Californian chardonnay made in a family-run coastal vineyard, using sustainable practices.

Kendall Jackson Reserve is made in the Jackson family vineyard. Fermented in small oak barrels this wine has a sweet first taste followed by notes of vanilla, honey and toast.

Unlike more buttery wines, this is a translucent golden colour in the glass.

While this little beauty is only about 12 dollars stateside, it comes in at around €30 in most wine retail spots across Ireland.

Description: Jackson Family Wines, one of California’s most renowned wineries, craft a diverse range of classic wines from their cool coastal vineyards. Their flagship Chardonnay is a standout, showcasing a harmonious blend of tropical fruit and ripe citrus. Subtle hints of vanilla, honey, and toast from oak barrel fermentation add layers of complexity and richness. It’s no wonder this Chardonnay has been America’s top seller for decades.

Tasting Note: This Chardonnay from Jackson Family Wines presents a seamless fusion of tropical fruit, balanced by notes of vanilla, honey, and toast, thanks to oak barrel fermentation. Its rich flavour is perfectly offset by a refreshing streak of acidity.
